Stress Management & Massage

How often you just sit down without disruption and intentionally relax? For most of us, finding the time to de-stress is becoming increasingly difficult. It is natural to have stress. However, while we need some stress to supply us with motivation, energy and zest, long term stress - or high levels of short-term stress - are dangerous, and can contribute to a wide spectrum of ailments.

Some physicians suggest that stress may be responsible for 80% of all diseases in the Western world including skin diseases (e.g., psoriasis and eczema), headaches and migraine, digestive disorders, high blood pressure and heart-related diseases, as well as back-ache and muscle pain, poor eyesight and depression.

As more is learned of the healing powers of touch, an increasing number of folks are turning to massage. When the body is under undue stress, the blood flow to muscles is constricted and circulation is reduced, putting additional strain on the major organs, especially the heart. Massage therapy relaxes muscles and allows for improved blood flow.

Sometimes an hour of soft lighting, soothing music, and the undivided attention of caring hands is exactly what someone needs to restore them to a state of clear mind and healthy body. This hour gives the body and mind a chance to let go of the physical and emotional tensions of the day. It's a chance to let the mind wander where it will, following the music or whatever paths it chooses, to explore the connection of mind and body.

After your massage, as you return to the everyday stresses in your life, take a few moments each day to recall the soothing music, soft lighting and peacefulness of that single hour or massage.

When stress begins to build up again, call and make another appointment. Regular massage (whether it is once a week or once a month), relaxes tense muscles and stimulates the body's communication lines to help it do its job - maintain optimum health by keeping all of its systems in balance and to keep you feeling your best.
